This piece incorporates a number of themes that were at the forefront of my mind at the time. The succulent plant represents the tenacity of life - lush green that manages to survive even in the harshest desert climate. I collect succulents - partly for their inspirational symbolism, partly for their exotic and often alien-looking forms. I call them my Martian Garden. This is also one of the largest pieces I've done.
